JAMES DEAN 11x14 photo from archival negative
This photo is 11X14 inches
TOTAL
-
including
any potential border
-- in a
GLOSSY METALLIC
finish. The description below is standardized for all my photos - so please read it at least once. Any specific issues relating to this specific photo will be referenced ABOVE. PLEASE be sure to look at the supersized scan of the photo for the details of each specific image. Please be a responsible bidder & carefully examine the supersized scan before bidding. Only the print is for sale - though most listings include a photo of a portion of my collection of vintage 4x5 negatives & slides. These are NOT for sale.
This photo measures 11X14 inches - TOTAL -
including
any potential white border
. That means - if you see a white border within that dark frame line above - then the actual image will be a bit smaller - in the EXACT dimensions depicted above (for example - if the image looks square - it is probably closer to 10x10 on 11x14 paper -- and 35mm slides/negs measure closer to 13.5x9 on 11x14). This is due to the measurements of each individual negative. Not all images have a border.....but some do.
There will be no returns based on the idea that the bidder was unaware of the border - if & when they exist.
If a border exists - it will be apparent in the scan provided. So - PLEASE review the scan before bidding - ESPECIALLY if white borders bother you. If you are still uncertain - INQUIRE - and I will happily clear up any mystery. The actual 11x14 photo will look EXACTLY like the scan withing the blue/purple lines above. This is NOT A CHEAP INKJET OR LASER PRINT. This is a GALLERY quality, archival
photograph
. Breathtaking!!!!! It may or may not have a white border - which WILL be apparent in the small scan you can click to supersize with the blue line around it (that line shows the actual edge of the 11x14 paper. If there is any white between that line & the image - that represents the border & image in EXACT proportions). It was made from a vintage studio, copy, inter or publication file negative, slide or transparency. It is of the finest quality. All these photos were printed on professional photographic paper by a custom photo lab on single-weight, archival photo paper. These were struck recently from vintage negatives or slides/transparencies (whether original, studio, copy or file negative -- and whether or not the neg belonged to me or another collector) which were scanned once & stored digitally - to protect the fragile old negative from repeated handling and potential loss or theft. Digitally scanning old negatives allows the finest photo details to remain crystalline. I think they look better than darkroom prints. You will not find a finer quality image or print at this price. The huge supersized scan of the photo allows you to see every detail before bidding. Not cheap dupes or computer printouts. NOT ALL NEGATIVES & SLIDES are created equal. Some are flawed, some are perfect, some once were perfect but have been damaged over the years. PLease be a responsible buyer and EXAMINE THE SUPERSIZED SCAN for details before bidding. The words "from vintage negative" will not appear on the actual photo - but everything else you see on the photo - from studio writing (sometimes a photo will have the star's name and Studio on it or a file number. Some images may have a white border. All this will appear in the scan - if it applies) to any dust or scratches or damages that were on the neg - will appear on the print. This scan represents EXACTLY what the print will look like - including any potential white border resulting from an odd-sized negative.
Please review the scan here.
I promise - you will LOVE the quality of these photographs.
Additionally - like a fine meal - often these prints are made to order - after you win the auction (especially if the item only gets bids in the final moments). This constitutes about a 4-6 day lag time before I can even mail the item - because these are custom prints done in a high end lab - not homemade computer prints or at a cherap 1-hr photo - and I only place orders at my out-of-state lab ONCE PER WEEK (typically on Sunday). If there are bids early on - I can get a jump & order early -- but (as I already said) - last minute wins will usually experience a small delay. This does not apply to 99% of STORE ITEMS - as these are prints I already have physical possession of.
